Pokemon TCG Pocket has announced new Shining Revelry expansion, arriving later this month

My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket tends to ebb and flow. I get incredibly engaged when a new set is released and continue playing as long as there are Emblems to earn for achieving around 40 wins. Once that's done, I usually just log in daily to open my packs, participate in a Wonder Pick for fun, and then move on until the next day. This cycle will kick off again with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.

Shining Revelry will bring 110 new cards to TCG Pocket, featuring a variety of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and the stunning art cards we've all grown to adore. The highlight, hinted at by the expansion's name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon! For those new to the concept, Shinies are unique, differently colored versions of your favorite creatures. For instance, you'll see Lucario in yellow instead of blue, and Pachirisu with a striking pink stripe.

The trailer, which you can view below, offers just a glimpse of what's in store, but let's delve into the details. A new Shiny Charizard Ex will be introduced, boasting 180 HP and a powerful attack named Steam Artillery that inflicts 150 damage. The downside? It requires a hefty five energy. However, its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards at once, making it more manageable.

Another exciting addition is the new Ex version of Lucario. Previously seen in a more supportive role in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is now ready for frontline combat. With 150 HP, it may not be the most robust, but its Aura Sphere attack is promising. For three Fighting Energy, it deals 100 damage to the active Pokemon and an additional 30 to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.

The trailer also teases other cards that, while not game-changers, are still noteworthy. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are on their way and look fantastic. Additionally, there's a beautifully designed Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is available on the App Store and Google Play, offering a free-to-play experience with optional in-app purchases. If you're interested, you can download it for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
