Pokémon TCG Pocket Won’t Be In The Competitive Scene Just Yet

No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

At present, there are no plans for Pokémon TCG Pocket to join the Pokémon competitive circuit. Chris Brown, The Pokémon Company's Director of eSports, shared in a VGC interview on February 25, 2025, that while they continuously evaluate different titles for inclusion, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't slated for competition yet.

He lightheartedly mentioned "Pokemon Sleep is out there too," referencing the company's April Fool’s parody trailer for the Pokemon Sleep Champion Tournament. Yet, he clarified, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokemon Pocket to join, though we're always looking at things."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

While no official reasons have been given for excluding Pokémon TCG Pocket from the competitive scene, fans have their theories. The game, launched in October 2024, is still in its infancy, with only two sets released so far. This early stage might be a factor.

Although the game includes competitive features since its launch, players have been vocal about ongoing balancing issues. Pokémon TCG Pocket offers a simplified, beginner-friendly version of the original Pokémon card game, which might not align with a competitive focus.

Nonetheless, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit remains vibrant with events featuring Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite, all set to appear at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.
