Released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, Pokémon Gold and Silver revolutionized the Pokémon world. Critically acclaimed for their innovative features, including a real-time clock affecting gameplay, and the introduction of 100 new Pokémon (Gen 2), these games left an indelible mark on gaming history. The games' popularity led to a Western release the following year and a 10th-anniversary remake, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, for the Nintendo DS in 2009. Iconic Gen 2 Pokémon like Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, and Lugia remain fan favorites to this day.
