Smite 2 Is Now Free-to-Play

Summary

  • Smite 2's free-to-play open beta is now live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck.
  • A new patch introduces Aladdin as a playable god, alongside other exciting additions.
  • The popular 3v3 Joust mode returns, and ambitious new content is planned for 2025.

Following a successful closed alpha, Smite 2's open beta is now available for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant patch from Titan Forge Games, introducing new gods, a revamped game mode, and more.

Revealed a year ago, Smite 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the popular third-person MOBA, built using Unreal Engine 5. It boasts improved visuals and refined combat mechanics compared to its predecessor. A redesigned item shop allows players to equip diverse items regardless of their chosen god's class. Maintaining the core Smite gameplay, players embody gods from various mythologies in 5v5 battles to conquer the opposing team's base. Now, after the closed alpha, the game is open to all.

Beginning January 14th, the open beta launched across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck, offering a free download. This update introduces Aladdin, a brand-new god designed specifically for Smite 2. Utilizing his unique wall-running abilities and a wish-granting companion for revival, Aladdin's ultimate ability traps enemies in a 1v1 duel.

Smite 2's Free-to-Play Open Beta: New Content Highlights

  • 5 new gods, including the ground-up creation, Aladdin.
  • The return of the beloved 3v3 Joust mode.
  • A fresh Arthurian-themed map.
  • Updates to the Conquest map.
  • An alpha version of the Assault game mode.
  • New optional Aspects enhancing certain gods.
  • Free download available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck.

Joining Aladdin in the expanded Smite 2 roster are Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon). In addition to new gods, the popular Joust mode returns, offering 3v3 battles on a smaller map. The Conquest and Assault game modes are also included in the open beta.

Titan Forge Games' creative director has stated that Smite 2 is demonstrably superior to its predecessor in several key areas. The developers expressed gratitude for the community feedback received during the closed alpha, and promised ambitious new content releases throughout 2025.

While available on major platforms, Smite 2 is currently absent from the Nintendo Switch. Previous concerns about the console's performance capabilities have led to this decision. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2. For now, Smite fans can enjoy the open beta on their chosen platform.
