South Park Season 27 Release Date Revealed: Topical Trailer Drops
The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return with Season 27, and it appears our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling, well, the state of things, in their uniquely satirical way.
The beloved animated series has released a new trailer for the upcoming season, masterfully tricking the audience into thinking it's a preview for a new drama series. The trailer starts with intense editing and ominous music, building up suspense... only for the mood to be hilariously broken by Randy and Shelley Marsh. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, casually asks her if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he suggests, perfectly encapsulating South Park's signature humor.
After the gag, the trailer shifts back to intense action, hinting at several major (and timely) plot points for the season. Expect to see plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy cameo, and what looks like another war with Canada — a nod that long-time fans and viewers of the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut will certainly appreciate.
Mark your calendars: Season 27 is slated to premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, more than two years after the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has kept fans entertained with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park marked its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first aired on Comedy Central in 1997 to immediate acclaim.
