Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'
Saber Interactive assures fans that all previously announced games remain in development, despite the lack of recent updates on high-profile projects like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. Following the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits tweeted a reassurance: "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”
The most prominent game affected by this statement is the KOTOR remake, a project shrouded in mystery since its 2021 announcement. The remake has faced numerous setbacks, including changes in development teams and apparent pauses in production. However, in April 2024, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed that the project, now under Saber's control following the split from Embracer Group, remains actively in development, stating, "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this…What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations." Willits' recent statement further reinforces this commitment, though concrete updates remain absent.
Beyond KOTOR, Saber Interactive is developing several other titles, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both slated for 2025 release (though dates are unconfirmed). A new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender game are also in the works. The recently revealed Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 adds to this already substantial development pipeline.
