SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku’, Plus New Releases, Sales, and Good-Byes
Farewell, SwitchArcade Readers! This is the final regular SwitchArcade Round-Up from me. After several years, circumstances necessitate a change of course. But we're going out with a bang!
Reviews & Mini-Views
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)
Following the success of Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, Imagineer’s collaboration with Hatsune Miku is a surprisingly effective fitness title. This Joy-Con-only game blends boxing and rhythm game mechanics for engaging workouts, mini-games, and customizable routines. It includes a dedicated mode featuring Miku's songs, alongside the standard tracks. Features include difficulty settings, free training, warm-ups, progress tracking, and unlockable cosmetics. While the music is excellent, the main instructor's voice is somewhat jarring and could be improved. Best used as a supplement to other fitness routines rather than a standalone program. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Magical Delicacy ($24.99)
Magical Delicacy cleverly combines Metroidvania exploration with cooking and crafting. As witch Flora, you cook and craft for various characters in a charming, mysterious world. The Metroidvania elements are surprisingly well-executed, though backtracking and inventory management could be refined. The UI also requires some adjustment. The game boasts beautiful pixel art, lovely music, and customizable UI settings. While the Switch version plays well, some frame pacing issues are noticeable. Potential updates could significantly enhance the overall experience. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)
This sequel to Aero The Acro-Bat offers a polished 16-bit platforming experience. While it lacks the quirky charm of the original, it's a solid improvement. Ratalaika Games has significantly enhanced the presentation with a tailored emulator wrapper, including extras like box and manual scans, achievements, and a gallery. The inclusion of only the Super NES version (and not the Genesis version) is a minor drawback. A recommended purchase for fans of the series and retro platformers.
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5
Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)
More of an expansion than a sequel, Metro Quester | Osaka builds upon the original's satisfying turn-based dungeon-crawling gameplay. Set in Osaka, it introduces a new dungeon, character types, weapons, skills, and enemies. The canoe mechanic adds a new layer to exploration. It retains the core mechanics of the original, requiring careful planning and strategic play. A great addition for fans of the original and a solid entry point for newcomers.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
