Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege 2 in Development: Enhanced Graphics Revealed
According to an insider known as fraxiswinning, Ubisoft is poised to unveil Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitational 2025, set to take place at the MGM Music Hall from February 14–16. The insider claims that the sequel, codenamed Siege X, will run on an enhanced engine, boasting upgraded graphics, including revamped textures and models.
Additionally, Ubisoft is reportedly planning to replace the temporary events from the original game with entirely new events. The anticipated release date for Rainbow Six Siege 2 is set for the second season of the tenth year of support, which falls in mid-2025.
Previously, Alexander Karpazis, the creative director of Rainbow Six Siege, expressed that a full sequel was unnecessary due to the ongoing development of the current game. However, if the leak proves accurate, it appears Ubisoft may have reconsidered their stance.
It's important to approach such rumors with caution. Without an official statement from Ubisoft, all information remains speculative.
The Rainbow Six Siege World Championship, known as the Six Invitational 2025, is fast approaching. This event will be held in Boston, where twenty teams will vie for a share of the $3,000,000 prize pool and the championship title. Oxygen Esports, having won the North American Last Chance Qualifier, is the last team to secure a spot in the tournament.
The format featuring twenty teams is unusual. While Ubisoft is likely to maintain the format from the previous year—four groups with a round-robin among five teams, followed by Double Elimination playoffs—there could be surprises in store.
In this format, the first-place team in each group skips the first round, the fourth-place team starts in the lower bracket, the remaining teams enter the playoffs in the upper bracket, and the last-placed team in each group is eliminated.
