WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

Author : Brooklyn Update : May 05,2025

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year, coinciding with the release of a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came this week, with sources citing that the content volume did not justify the proposed price tag. Warner Bros. chose not to comment on the matter when approached by Bloomberg.

This cancellation comes at a time when Warner Bros. is undergoing significant restructuring within its gaming division, driven by ongoing financial challenges. Earlier this year, the company made the tough call to cancel its Wonder Woman game and shut down the responsible studio, Monolith Productions, along with WB San Diego and the MultiVersus studio, Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs at Rocksteady occurred as recently as last September.

Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of Hogwarts Legacy and the broader Harry Potter franchise as key assets. The company has affirmed that developing a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities," signaling a strategic focus on major franchises. This is underscored by the impressive sales of the original game, which has surpassed 30 million copies sold.
