VNeID – Electronic Identification and Authentication Application

The VNeID application is developed by the National Population Data Center under Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security. It leverages population data, identification, and electronic authentication technologies.

The VNeID app is designed for individuals living in or traveling throughout Vietnam.

This application serves as a digital replacement for physical documents, enabling citizen identification in the digital environment. It provides utilities to support digital citizenship, digital government, and a digital society. Users can declare health reports and make quick domestic travel declarations. Additionally, it assists authorities in tracing potential COVID-19 exposures and issuing timely alerts.

Access: By using this app, you agree to grant it access to the following device functions:

(1) Internet access from your device.

(2) Camera access to scan the QR code on your Citizen Identification Card, speeding up the entry of basic citizen information, and to scan QR codes at checkpoints for fast travel and health declarations.

(3) Access to Photos, Videos, Audio, and Files on your device to store QR code images for verification at citizen checkpoints.

(4) Sending notifications to your device.

Personal Information Collection: Users input data, declare health information, make domestic travel declarations, or declare on behalf of others with their explicit permission. Collected personal information may include: Full Name, Phone Number, Citizen ID, Gender, Year of Birth, Permanent Address, Nationality, Health Status, Place of Departure, Destination, Vehicle License Plate, and possible exposure to individuals with COVID-19. All information is collected with user consent through form submission.

Users are solely responsible for their legal capacity and the information they enter.

Privacy and Copyright Protection: User data is stored and secured by the National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security. It is used exclusively for COVID-19 prevention, control, and public health protection. Data is not used for commercial purposes or to infringe on personal privacy. Information may be shared with Health Authorities and other competent agencies to enhance COVID-19 prevention efforts.

Beyond these purposes, the app developer does not collect or use user information for any other reason. We will not disclose any information in a way that could harm user privacy or violate Vietnamese law or application policy.

- No Location Collection: VNeID does not collect location data.

- Anonymity: Users interact anonymously within the community. Only competent authorities can identify those who are infected or are suspected close contacts for the purpose of contact tracing.
