Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios, celebrated the player surge on Twitter (X) on April 22, highlighting the robust modding community's role in extending the game's lifespan. Vincke also teased the studio's next venture, signaling a shift away from the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Universe to explore new creative horizons.

In light of Larian's departure, Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro, owners of D&D, are actively seeking new partners to carry forward the Baldur’s Gate legacy, potentially leading to a Baldur’s Gate 4 developed by another studio.
