Battlefield 6 AI Soldiers Confirmed for Training Mode

Optional Removal Available in Breakthrough Mode

On August 7, 2025, the official Battlefield Twitter (X) account, Battlefield Comms, clarified the role of AI bots. The development team stated these AI soldiers would only appear in "Training Grounds playlists during the Open Beta," addressing player concerns about their impact on core gameplay.

To combat the issue of underpopulated servers, DICE announced they would deploy AI bots as temporary fill-ins.

The team specified that AI would be restricted to the "Breakthrough Initiation" playlist. Playlists are curated sequences of game modes or campaigns. The "Breakthrough Initiation" playlist, part of the broader "Training Grounds," is designed to prepare players for the full Breakthrough experience.

As explained on EA's official site, "In Breakthrough, the map is divided into sectors contested sequentially. Attackers push the frontline forward while defenders hold their ground. To capture a sector, attackers must control all points within it simultaneously." This objective-driven gameplay explains why DICE introduced AI to ensure consistent action during training.

Not all players are comfortable with high concentrations of AI enemies; titles like PUBG and Call of Duty: Warzone are often cited as examples where bots can diminish the competitive thrill.

Fortunately, Battlefield 6 provides a solution. Upon reaching Rank 15 and progressing beyond the Training Grounds playlists, players can experience Breakthrough mode without any AI bots. To opt out, players can select Breakthrough directly "from the 'Featured' playlist row," according to Battlefield Comms.

Larger Maps Announced Amid Ongoing Player Feedback

Beyond AI concerns, players shared extensive feedback from the August 9-10 open beta. Common points included overly chaotic matches and maps that felt smaller than expected.

Battlefield series Lead Producer David Sirland responded to one player, noting, "Pacing is directly influenced by map size. We selected these specific maps to deliver a high-intensity Battlefield experience and demonstrate our capability in that area." Sirland also hinted at future content, stating, "Larger maps do exist, and the gameplay pace adjusts accordingly. You'll see them soon enough!"

Additional feedback highlighted issues like potential cheating, underwhelming physics and animations, an unintuitive user interface, subpar vehicle handling, and a limited weapon progression system. With several months remaining until launch, players hope the development team can address these points before the official release.

Battlefield 6 is scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. For the latest news and updates on the game, be sure to read our related article below.
