Capcom Games Competition Opens Up RE ENGINE for Student Focused Challenge
Capcom Launches First-Ever Game Development Competition
Capcom is fostering industry growth through education with its inaugural Capcom Games Competition, a student-focused game development tournament. This industrial-academic collaboration aims to cultivate future talent and advance research within the video game industry.
A Collaborative Approach to Game Development
The competition, open to Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students (18+), challenges teams of up to 20 individuals to create a game using Capcom's RE ENGINE within a six-month timeframe. Teams will be guided by experienced Capcom developers, providing invaluable insight into cutting-edge game development techniques. Winning teams will receive game production support and the potential for commercialization.
Key Competition Details
The application window opens December 9, 2024, and closes January 17, 2025 (unless otherwise stated). Participants will be assigned roles mirroring those in professional game development studios.
Leveraging the Power of RE ENGINE
The competition utilizes Capcom's RE ENGINE (Reach for the Moon Engine), first introduced in 2017's Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. This powerful engine has since powered numerous successful Capcom titles, including recent Resident Evil installments, Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. Its ongoing evolution ensures high-quality game development.
