Choosing Your Faction: A Guide to Dynasty Warriors: Origins
As with most *Dynasty Warriors* titles, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* immerses you in the tumultuous world of ancient China, where you'll hack and slash your way through battles alongside various warlords. However, a pivotal moment arrives when you must choose which faction to join. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the faction selection process in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained
In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, the narrative unfolds over several chapters. Initially, your character, the Wanderer, remains neutral, floating between Sun Jian’s, Cao Cao’s, and Liu Bei’s factions. You'll assist them in numerous skirmishes and participate in significant historical events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
The crucial decision point comes in Chapter 3, where the game prompts you to choose a faction by the chapter's end. By this time, you should have a fair understanding of each faction, but the game provides additional battles to help you make an informed decision.
To progress, you must complete a specific number of missions for each faction. Sun Jian requires three battles, Liu Bei needs two, and Cao Cao demands just one. Once you've fulfilled the necessary missions for a faction, a new mission will unlock, forcing you to make your allegiance choice. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao’s mission first, you'll have to decide between aligning with him or Liu Bei, with Liu Bei's option unavailable if you haven't completed his missions. You can always go back and complete missions for all factions before making your final choice.
Once you make your choice, the faction you reject will be locked out for the remainder of the game. This means you can't engage in sidequests with their officers, and your bond with them won't grow. Choosing a faction might make your journey slightly more challenging; for example, aligning with Liu Bei, who starts with fewer officers, limited my opportunities to gain skill points through sidequests.
Each faction offers unique missions, enhancing the replay value of *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. To experience all the game has to offer, consider creating an extra save file before making your allegiance decision, allowing you to reload and explore different paths.
That’s how you select a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to dive into its rich, action-packed world.
