A Clueless Sequel Series Is Reportedly Happening — And Alicia Silverstone Is Returning
Imagine slipping back into the iconic yellow and plaid outfit as if it were yesterday. Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her beloved role as Cher Horowitz in an exciting new sequel series for Peacock, diving back into the world of *Clueless* that fans have adored since 1995.
While plot details remain closely guarded, we know that this series will continue the story from the original film. Variety reports that the project is in development, and it's distinct from Peacock's previously planned Clueless spin-off in 2020. This time, fans can expect to see Silverstone back in action, bringing her charm and style to the small screen once more.
The creative team behind this revival is nothing short of impressive. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original *Gossip Girl* and its reboot, will co-write the series with Jordan Weiss. Together, they will also serve as executive producers alongside Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of *Clueless*, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to produce this much-anticipated series.
This isn't the first time *Clueless* has made the leap to television. Following the film's success, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher. However, Silverstone's recent return to the character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her eagerness to revisit Cher's world, and fans are thrilled to see her back in the iconic role.
