Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types

Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on an Operation. With six distinct weapon types available, players can craft a character build tailored to their preferred playstyle. The game features three gun and three melee weapon types, each fully customizable. Let's explore these unique weapon categories:

Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered

Players acquire new weapons through Operations or purchases from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapons are predetermined, players have complete control over their Accessory's weapon. Changing weapons incurs no penalties or benefits, allowing for frequent adjustments.

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee Quick attacks ideal for swift playstyles, targeting single enemies. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee Wide-sweeping attacks inflict significant damage; well-placed attacks hit multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed.
Polearm Attacks propel the player through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for substantial damage from a safe distance.
Assault Weapons High ammo capacity, perfect as a primary weapon for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with the Thorne for strategic advantage.
Portable Artillery High single-shot damage with low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed.
Autocannons High rate of fire, large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, compensated by the rapid firing rate. Reduces movement speed.

Unlike the player character, Accessories don't consume ammo when using gun weapons. This strategic advantage allows for diverse combat approaches.
