Guide to Earning the Shooting Star Trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds
In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while many achievements focus on battling the game's largest and most fearsome creatures, there's a unique one that involves capturing the tiniest of critters. To unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement, you'll need to embark on a quest to find and capture the elusive Sandstar.
How to Unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement stands out for its simplicity yet elusive nature. This achievement requires you to capture a rare endemic life form known as the **Sandstar**, found in the **Windward Plains**. This small creature, resembling a desert mouse with shimmering fur, is only visible at night in a specific part of the region.
Since your adventures in the Windward Plains often occur during daylight hours, you'll need to wait until nightfall. Here are two methods to pass the time:
- **Fast Travel** - Available early in the game once you unlock multiple fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use the interactive map to access the fast travel menu and travel between points until nightfall.
- **Rest** - After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to select the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).
How to Catch the Sandstar in Monster Hunter Wilds
The Sandstar is not only tiny but also incredibly fast, making it a challenge even when you're at full sprint on your Seikret. To increase your chances of capturing it, consider gathering **Screamer Pods** from **Baunos**, small red-winged scavengers found in Area 11 and Area 13 of the Windward Plains. These pods can help stun the Sandstar, making it easier to catch.
Once it's night in the Windward Plains, head to the area between Area 11 and Area 13. Keep a keen eye out for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed. If you have Screamer Pods, use one to stun the Sandstar when you're close enough. Immediately switch to your **Capture Net** (used also for fishing) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll also receive the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
