Despite the buzz of mixed reviews on Steam, Monster Hunter (MH) Wilds has impressively attracted over 1 million concurrent players. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds reached an all-time peak of 1,384,608 concurrent players. This number eclipses the records of its predecessors; MH World peaked at 334,684 players, while MH Rise hit 231,360. Yet, MH Wilds finds itself with a Mixed review rating on its Steam page, with only 57% of the 54,669 reviews being positive. A common thread among the negative feedback points to poor PC optimization and various performance issues.

Capcom Responds to PC Performance Issues

In response to the criticism regarding MH Wilds' PC performance, Capcom has taken proactive steps to address these concerns. On February 28, 2025, Monster Hunter's official support account, Monster Hunter Status, used Twitter (X) to communicate solutions to the game's issues. They directed players to the MH Wilds support website, which offers a range of troubleshooting advice, including updating video/graphics drivers, ensuring the latest Windows updates are installed, and performing a clean installation of video drivers.

For those still facing issues, Capcom suggested visiting the Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page for more detailed guidance.

Game-breaking Bug Blocking Story Progress

A significant game-breaking bug has emerged, preventing story progression for players. This bug causes a vital NPC to fail to appear during Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. On March 2, 2025, Monster Hunter Status acknowledged this issue on Twitter (X) and confirmed that the team is actively working on a fix.

Additionally, players have reported issues with the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features not unlocking despite meeting the criteria, alongside problems accessing the Smithy. Capcom has responded promptly, releasing hotfixes and updates across various consoles and platforms to address these problems.

Character Editing Locked Behind Microtransactions

MH Wilds introduces microtransactions that are necessary for changing the appearance of characters and their Palicos. Players can purchase the Monster Hunter Wilds - Character Edit Voucher Three-Voucher Pack for $6.00, which allows three character edits. This pack is available on all digital storefronts. While basic changes like hair, eyebrow color, facial color, makeup, and clothing are free, more extensive modifications require this voucher. A similar voucher is needed for Palico edits, and there's a $10 option that covers three edits for both character and Palico.

Capcom is, however, offering a single free voucher for character edits. These microtransactions were not part of the MH Wilds testing phase but were announced beforehand.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and information on Monster Hunter Wilds, don't miss our comprehensive article below!
