Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Anthony Update : Apr 17,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially responded to the frustrations of fans struggling to obtain the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, they announced plans for reprints to address the supply issues and ensure fans can enjoy their favorite products.

The launch of the latest set, Destined Rivals, was marred by shortages, pre-order complications, and the impact of scalpers. This issue isn't isolated; other sought-after sets like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box have also been notoriously hard to come by due to overwhelming demand.

On the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged that "some fans are experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability."

The statement continued, "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this. Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."

Looking ahead, TPC pledged to "maximize production" for upcoming TCG expansions to boost product availability right from the launch. They also committed to ongoing reprints of affected products, including those available at the Pokémon Center.

In response to scalping, TPC indirectly addressed the issue by emphasizing their commitment to providing a smooth purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They noted, "We are committed to providing a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost." This includes the use of a virtual queue system during times of high site traffic.

The company concluded, "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers. We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these assurances from The Pokémon Company, fans can hopefully look forward to a less stressful experience when collecting and playing the Pokémon TCG as new sets are released.
