EA's highly anticipated Skate revival will mandate persistent internet connectivity.

In an updated FAQ on the official blog, developer Full Circle clearly stated: "The game and city are designed as a persistent multiplayer skateboarding sandbox requiring constant internet access. You'll witness large-scale city evolutions alongside live events and other dynamic activities."

The always-online requirement prevents offline play regardless of multiplayer preferences. Full Circle emphasizes this connectivity enables their "vision of a living skateboarding world."

"This shouldn't surprise playtest participants," developers noted, referencing their September 2024 Always-On Playtest phase that established continuous server operations.

Launch Timeline and Monetization Testing

Slated for 2025 early access (specific date pending), Skate was first announced at EA Play 2020 during early development. Full Circle has maintained transparency through closed build testing and recently implemented microtransactions.

The team introduced San Van Bucks virtual currency for cosmetic purchases, explicitly testing the transaction system pre-launch. "We recognize real-money transactions during testing are unconventional," developers acknowledged, "but crucial for system refinement. Spending balances will carry over to Early Access."
