Top Spring 2025 Anime Recommendations
I’ve highlighted ***The Apothecary Diaries, Once Upon A Witch’s Death, The Beginning After The End, To Be Hero X***, and ***WITCH WATCH*** in my roundup of Spring 2025 anime dubs coming to Crunchyroll. However, there are several other notable picks from the list above that deserve your attention.
***Devil May Cry*** is the latest animated video game adaptation from Netflix. With its Limp Bizkit-soundtracked trailer and a newly composed Evanescence track, it promises to strike the right tone for its audience. Netflix's track record with anime and anime-style game adaptations is varied, from successes like *Castlevania*, *Arcane*, and *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* to less successful efforts like *Tekken: Bloodline* and *Dragon’s Dogma*. However, with creator Adi Shankar, who has worked on *Castlevania*, *Guardians of Justice*, and *Captain Laserhawk*, and Studio Mir, known for *Avatar: The Last Airbender* and *Korra*, behind the project, fans of action-packed anime like *Trigun* should find plenty to enjoy in Dante's mercenary escapades.
***Moonrise*** brings a unique concept to the table, depicting the moon's fight for independence. This original net animation boasts blockbuster talent, including animation from WIT Studio (*Attack On Titan*, *Vinland Saga*), character designs by Hiromu Arakawa (*Fullmetal Alchemist*), and direction by Masashi Koizuka (*Attack On Titan* Seasons 2 & 3). Despite limited information on the plot, the involvement of such high-caliber creators suggests something special is in store.
Lastly, ***YAIBA: Samurai Legends*** may be less known outside Japan or among younger audiences, but it's a beloved series created by Gosho Aoyama, famous for *Case Closed*. This samurai comedy follows Yaiba Kurogane as he battles an arch-nemesis with a magical katana and a demon army. With WIT Studio handling the animation and Aoyama's direct involvement, this adaptation promises to blend the humor and style of *Detective Conan* with the action of early *Dragon Ball*, complete with historical Japanese cameos.
