Trump and Biden mods removed from Marvel Rivals, Nexus Mods owner faces threats

The popular game *Marvel Rivals* has found itself at the center of a heated controversy following the removal of over 500 mods in just one month from the Nexus Mods platform. Tensions flared particularly around mods that replaced Captain America's head with images of political figures Joe Biden and Donald Trump. These mods were taken down, sparking a significant backlash from the community.

TheDarkOne, the owner of Nexus Mods, addressed the issue in a private Reddit discussion. He clarified that the decision to remove both the Trump and Biden mods was made simultaneously to maintain impartiality. "We removed the Biden mod on the same day as the Trump mod to avoid bias. But for some reason, YouTube bloggers are silent about it," he stated, suggesting a perceived uneven coverage of the issue in the media.

However, the removal of these mods led to severe repercussions for TheDarkOne and his team. They began receiving death threats and were subjected to various insults, including accusations of pedophilia. "Today we write death threats, call us pedophiles and all sorts of insults just because someone decided to stir up this topic," TheDarkOne lamented, highlighting the intense backlash they faced.

This incident is not an isolated case for Nexus Mods. In 2022, the platform stirred controversy by removing a mod for *Spider-Man Remastered* that substituted rainbow flags with American flags. At that time, the site's administration openly declared their stance on inclusivity, stating their commitment to removing content that goes against diversity. "We're not going to waste our time on people who think this is cause for uproar," TheDarkOne concluded, underscoring their firm position on such matters.
