Summary
- Patch 11.1 in World of Warcraft introduces Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races featuring Goblin jetpacks.

- Skyrocket races will challenge players with ring collection, speed management, and increased difficulty.
World of Warcraft's Patch 11.1 is set to thrill players with the introduction of two new types of races: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races that utilize Goblin jetpacks. These races will replace the traditional Skyriding races in the new zone, Undermine, which is the first major content update for World of Warcraft: The War Within.
Patch 11.1, dubbed Undermined, transports players to the sprawling subterranean city of Undermine, the capital of the Goblins. Despite the zone's vast expanse, flying will not be permitted. Instead, players will navigate using D.R.I.V.E., a dynamic, customizable, car-like mount designed to speed through the city's streets faster than any Skyriding mount. The Breakneck races will fully exploit the capabilities of the D.R.I.V.E. system.
In addition to the D.R.I.V.E. races, Skyrocket races introduce a novel challenge where players use Goblin jetpacks to soar through the skies. These races offer a unique movement style that blends elements of traditional flying and Skyriding. Unlike Steady flight, players cannot stop mid-air, but unlike Skyriding, they do not lose momentum or altitude. According to footage shared by WoW content creator MrGM from the Public Test Realm, collecting rings during these races increases speed, yet this also makes turning less responsive, adding to the race's difficulty.
New Skyrocket and Breakneck Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Because flying is restricted in Undermine, Skyriding races are absent from the zone. However, both Breakneck and Skyrocket races will feature achievements for completing each race at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. Additionally, reverse versions of all Skyrocket and Breakneck races are available, though there are no Advanced or Challenge courses as seen in some Skyriding races.
All Skyrocket and Breakneck Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Skyrocket | Breakneck |
---|---|
Skyrocketing Sprint | Breakneck Bolt |
The Heaps Leap | Junkyard Jaunt |
Scrapshop Shot | Casino Cruise |
Rags to Riches Run | Sandy Scuttle |
Initial reactions to the Skyrocket races have been varied. While some players are eager to experience them, others have criticized the jetpack flying as stiff and unresponsive compared to Skyriding. Fortunately, with Patch 11.1 still in development, there remains time for Blizzard to refine these races before their release, expected around February.
