Xbox Games Series: A Tier List Ranking

After a robust Xbox Developer Direct to start 2025, Microsoft's future looks bright, especially with its impressive lineup of first-party studios. But which Xbox game series gets you most excited? Which one provided you with unparalleled enjoyment during the glory days of the Xbox 360? And if you've never owned an Xbox, which series are you eagerly anticipating on other platforms like PlayStation, given Microsoft's apparent strategy to expand its library across the globe?

With Microsoft's acquisitions of both Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the pool of legendary game series to choose from is vast. This tier list encompasses series from Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided there have been multiple entries – apologies to MachineGames and Indiana Jones, but a sequel would be welcome to make the cut! Note that this isn't an exhaustive list of all Xbox game series, but it aims to highlight those with current relevance and historical significance. Here's my personal tier list, based on my enjoyment over the years:

For me, Doom easily secures an S-tier spot; the recent entries are among my favorite first-person shooters, and Doom: The Dark Ages promises that id Software will continue its stellar performance. Forza Horizon also lands in the S tier, as it offers, perhaps outside of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, the best racing experience I've ever had. Halo's placement in the A tier might surprise some, but despite the iconic campaigns of Halo 2 and 3, recent inconsistencies prevent it from reaching the top tier. As for Bethesda's RPGs, I lean more towards Fallout than The Elder Scrolls; I'd choose a set of power armor over a dragon any day.
