Dune: Awakening Hits Record Users, Devs Tackle PvP and Desert Bugs
Dune: Awakening developer Funcom has acknowledged it's actively resolving player complaints regarding the Deep Desert experience, including problematic respawn mechanics.
While Funcom previously confirmed fixes incoming for helicopter-related fatalities plaguing PvP encounters—which remains a major pain point—chief creative officer Joel Bylos engaged directly with players on Reddit to reaffirm ongoing improvements.
"We're implementing multiple adjustments and fixes for these concerns. Your patience is appreciated," Bylos stated.
Bylos responded specifically to redditor rustypipe7889's critique highlighting Deep Desert PvP frustrations, particularly instant respawns undermining combat victories ("victors face immediate retaliatory respawns locally").
Meanwhile, other players reported distinct endgame concerns awaiting developer attention. Redditor Darqsat expressed dissatisfaction, calling the endgame "completely disorganized."
"The Deep Desert offers zero PvE appeal beyond Tier 5's Duraluminium threshold. Consequently, only dedicated PvP players remain while others abandon ship post-progression. No legendary quests, unique vehicle components, or special base materials exist to entice continued exploration."
These endgame critiques emerge alongside Dune: Awakening's impressive weekend peak of 189,333 concurrent players.
The survival MMO maintains stellar launch metrics, boasting 'Very Positive' Steam reviews. Within launch day hours on June 10, Funcom's title achieved 142,000+ simultaneous players on Valve's platform. Our evolving impressions appear in the ongoing Dune: Awakening review.
