Nishino Takes Helm as Sony Interactive CEO, Totoki Rises to Sony CEO
Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective from April 1, 2025. This announcement comes from a recent press release, which also detailed significant changes at the top levels of Sony's corporate structure. Sony's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, has been promoted to president and CEO of the entire Sony corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been in the position since April 2018, following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will take over as CFO.
Just last year, it was announced that Nishino and Hermen Hulst would share leadership of SIE following the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan. Hulst was appointed as head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was responsible for hardware and technology. With the recent change, Nishino now assumes full oversight of SIE's operations and leads the platform business group, while Hulst continues to lead PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the platform experience group. Commenting on his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
