Far Cry 4 Hits 60fps on PS5

Author : Peyton Update : Nov 13,2025

More than a decade after its original release, Far Cry 4 now operates at a smooth 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5.

As discovered by gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game's update history confirms that Version 1.08 added "support for 60 FPS on the PS5 console."

This enhancement presents a perfect opportunity for newcomers to experience Far Cry 4. The game boasts one of the franchise's most memorable villains, Pagan Min, and immerses players in a vast, vibrant open world. The vertical terrain of the Himalayas serves not just as a beautiful vista, but as a dynamic environment that promotes combat, hunting, and discovery.

In our "great" 8.5/10 Far Cry 4 review, IGN noted, "While Far Cry 4 has some underdeveloped characters, its campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer offer a fantastic level of player freedom."

Far Cry 4 is the latest PS4-era Ubisoft title to receive a framerate boost in recent years, joining games like Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Unsurprisingly, this has sparked enthusiasm in the subreddit, with many Far Cry fans hoping that other beloved entries in the series, such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3, will soon get the same 60 fps upgrade.

For some players, however, the update arrived just a bit too late. "You have got to be kidding me. I just earned the platinum trophy for this game three days ago," lamented one unfortunate fan.

The news follows Ubisoft's recent establishment of a subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six IPs, backed by a substantial €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from the Chinese tech giant Tencent.

This development came after Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows had surpassed 3 million players. The company has faced a challenging period, marked by several high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations leading up to the release of Shadows. With its share price hitting a historic low, there is immense pressure on the company for this title to succeed.

In other recent news, Ubisoft quietly introduced Steam Achievements for the 12-year-old title Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
